We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done.” — Psalm 78:2-4
In Psalm and word, the Lord calls us to pass on the story of His work. Jesus has come, so let us speak the Good News of the Kingdom with gladness! Even the hard truths of God, the “dark sayings”, are to spread throughout the world. We need the pronouncers of parables, speakers of splendor, announcers of awe. Servants of God, the Storytellers.
Some Explorers do not only work in the physical world, the Storyteller is one who plumbs the depth of imagination and brings his audience on an extraordinary journey. Unfolding the true and beautiful drama of the Gospel, the Storyteller guides anyone who will follow into unseen realms, casting their eyes up to our great Savior. The Storyteller loves language and story in and outside of the Bible. Whether by intuition or training, they are competent and captivating communicators.
The Storyteller, first and foremost, loves to tell the story of God’s Kingdom. He tells stories in different mediums — a guide tour, marketing messages, videography, photography, and more. He uses the culture and daily motifs, sheep or farming or something new, to share about the Kingdom. The culture produces rich material tell the stories of God. In the story of the Peace Child, Don Richardson, a missionary to the tribes of Papua New Guinea, used the local peacemaking ritual to tell the story of Christ, the divine peace child.
Man hungers for a great story. Who will tell them the greatest story ever? Venture into the lands of imagination and spirit. Take hold with woven word and novel narrative. Storyteller, go and make the Good News, God’s Good Story, known.
