The Community Builder, An Entertainer Subtype

“And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.” — Acts 2:46-47

When the Bible talks about “not neglecting to meet together”, the Community Builder delights to obey. He loves throwing the party or extending hospitality. Perhaps, he doesn’t want to be the center of attention, but he is the glue that unites a diverse group of people together. He has the uncanny ability to gather random people around a new activity or function. 

Just as Matthew gathered his tax collector friends (Matthew 9:10-13), the Community Builder does the same. He gathers sinners around a meal that they might hear from Jesus. This is a major facet in the work of building the Kingdom. Like the Bridge Builder, he is a peacemaker and unifier. 

He is also can be a model church planter or pastor. Hospitality is a core quality of an elder, and therefore it is a skill all men should develop. As our faith is one which gathers around meals, think of the feasts throughout Scripture and the Lord’s Supper (Luke 22:19-20), the Community Builder gladly invites people to the King’s table. May the lost taste and hear that the Lord is good!

Bring the Good News with gladness and feasting! Gather the lost and declare Jesus, our servant King and God who came down to claim His people. The nations are hungry. Do not allow that hunger to persist.
