Obstacles
These challenges are psychological walls preventing you from taking the next steps forward. It could be your desire to be married or uncertainty of whether you are ready.
In overcoming them you can find greater joy in God's work and perhaps be greater equipped to that end.
The path to the mission field is fraught with difficulties for the single man. While they are real, few stand as novel challenges before men and in God's perspective. ​
Barriers:
Their weight drags you down, making the journey difficult. Many men know their duty to be a provider. The joy of this responsibility has become a fearful burden. Such obstacles burden even the strongest shoulders.
Burdens:
Sin and lesser desires pull our focus away from God and His Kingdom mission. At best they lead to impotent lives; at worst to spiritual death.
Bonds:
God has created you to overcome challenges and empowered you to surpass the obstacles set before you. As a man, you are called to do hard and worthy things. Do not let the looming challenge give you over to a spirit of withdrawal but take heart and welcome it gladly.
Obstacles Facing Single Men
Marriage is a blessing and a gift from God. To those who earnestly desire to be married, we pray you would find an amazing, God-honoring wife. Going overseas is not in opposition to the pursuit of a wife, so don't treat it as such! Do not let this towering Barrier before you impede your journey. There are hidden gates and ways up and over its walls.
The Barrier of Marital Desire
Those who fail to provide for their families are "denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever." Scripture never lacks something to say about money, and young men are right to ask questions about finances. To be called to missions does not equal a life of poverty. Rightly understood, missions can be a call to entrepreneurship, investment, and healthy work. Follow below to learn more about casting aside this Burden.
The Burden of Financial Responsibility
With no exception, every young man must battle with issues of lust. Sadly, missionaries are no different. This does not give us over to despair or worse browbeating men to do better. No, this is a Bond just waiting to be broken. Christ IS victorious. So do not allow this Bond to prevent you from moving forward. Band together with trusted friends to declare Christ victorious over the ways of the flesh!
