What to learn more about God's Kingdom work?

God is at work. He has been at work since light burst into creation in obedience to His spoken word. Following is the story of that work. As His story continues to unfold and He makes Himself known more and more, the Eternal Creator God, reigning in the Heavens and speaking into His creation, looks to you and extends an invitation.
Corruption, brokenness, and wickedness had entered the world. Creation bent doubled-over in its distorted state. Its malformation was only outdone by sinful man. That which God had declared “very good” now cursed his loving Father Creator. Such is the work of Satan, that ancient Serpent, and the pride of man.
But God did not despair. He chose a people for Himself, those called to be witnesses to His glorious name. Abraham was called from his homeland, promised blessings, a nation, and a multitude of descendants. Only one son was born to him, yet he did not give up faith because he knew his God was faithful. A people did arise from the seed of Abraham, that single child ages ago. They persisted through famine, enslavement, and the hardships of the wilderness from their lack of faith.
God continued steadfast in His love for these people, raising up Moses and gifting them with His Law and Covenant. Emerging after forty years in the wilderness, Moses and the Law could not carry them into the Promised Land. Joshua, a princely leader, led them forward. Victory came not out of the might of men, which they had little of, but from the grace of God. Jericho fell, like many of the following cities, through the divine power of the Lord. Evil had been overthrown.
Throughout all of this, God was building His Kingdom on Earth. In His audacious generosity, He chose to partner with this creation. Before they could enter the Land, surveyors and spies were moved to venture into the enemy territory. Caleb returned describing a Land of danger, ripe for the taking if they would trust the Lord. If only the people had trusted God and the faithful word of Caleb... Yet still, God continued to work. He brought forth soldiers, like David and Gideon, to overthrow the demonic kingdoms of the land. Through them, the land was cleansed and the people of God protected. Simple men, humble in light of the glorious God, faithfully committed their hands to their God’s work.
The craftsmen Bazelel and Oholiab, and many other nameless men worked to build the Kingdom. They created wondrous art and architecture, empowered by the very Spirit of God, the first of men to receive this gift. The work of Kingdom building is not solely accomplished by men welding the sword and trowel, but the Lord also acted wise men and leaders. Men like Solomon, Samuel, and Nehemiah at their best stood as God’s representatives counseling and guiding their people to build the Kingdom and praise its King.
A son became a family, a family became a people, and a people became a nation. But still, brokenness and sin flourished. Still, the Enemy slithered through the land. Darkness and the Empires of Men swept over this nation. Oppression fell upon the people of God. But praise be to God, for He was at work!
Crashing into the world, like the first light of creation, came something so much more awesome and wondrous. In the form of a helpless babe, the Messianic King of Promise, the glorious God of the universe, entered this world. In the toil and thorns of a broken world, He grew up and matured. He began traveling amongst the people of God, declaring a new, fuller message. The Kingdom of God was at hand!
He gathers a small ragtag group of misfits — a tax collector, a political rebel, blue-collar fishermen, and a man who would betray Him. God once again deemed to work with flawed men to make known His glorious plan.
Ages prior the glory of God had departed from the land, an omen of the right judgment soon to come. The glory of God exited to the East, and so Jesus Christ, the incarnate God, entered the Eastern gate. The presence of God had returned to His people, coming as an ascendant king about to claim His throne.
The Enemy lurking in the shadows saw his opportunity. Striking out from the dust, this heinous Serpent latches on the King’s heel. And man, we all too eager to participate in this grand coup added lashings of the whip and piercing spears and nails His weaker body. In shame and agony, the King died.
But God...
In cunning and wisdom, He accomplished the greatest reversal known to history and the infinite fictional histories of man’s creation. The God-Man defeated Sin. His shed blood has covered the multitudes of mankind. And raised by the Father, He mocks Death in His new glorious life. Now seated upon the glorious throne of Heaven, He rules Heaven and Earth.
Placing the Serpent’s neck beneath His foot, He not only claims the small nation of God’s people, He declares all the nations to be His inheritance!
Mankind doesn’t not now stand idly by for as His first Kingly edict, Jesus reiterated the ancient edict given to the first man. Fill the earth and subdue it, go and make disciples of all nations training them to obey and submit to the King. In all His Eternal authority, He has charged man with this duty.
Today, we live in that victory. The Lord Jesus is assembling a new ragtag crew, like the men of the Old Testament and His band of disciples. He is calling each one by name. Perhaps, even now you may hear His voice.
He is asking for men of all types to partner with Him in the building of His Kingdom. So here is your invitation.
