The Simple Evangelist, A Warrior Subtype

“How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!’” — Romans 10:14-15

A good soldier hears his commanders orders and acts. The Simple Evangelist are men, who hear, go, and do. Simplicity and clarity drives him forward. He operates on the frontlines. His focus is not to explore every nuance and facet of strategy like the Philosopher subtypes — the Shrewd Strategist, the Cultural Learner, and the Bridge Builder. He does, however, work hand-and-hand with them. They create strategies and the Simple Evangelist puts them into action with rapid expertise.

The Simple Evangelist should be the aspiration for all men. Quick obedience to the Lord should define His people. Many of them have been mentored by faithful men, building their trust in authority and urging them to pass on that discipleship to others.

The discipling urge propels the Simple Evangelist overseas, and it is the drive he brings to his team. He is outward oriented. Striking up spiritual conversations and sharing the Gospel is near compulsion to him, hence the “evangelist” in his name. He is an evangelist who makes evangelists, a disciple who makes disciples who make disciples.

How will they believe, if they haven’t heard? Who will go that they might hear? What will you share so they might know?

Go forth you, who are faithful. Proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom. And call forth new believers to do the same. The Kingdom of God will spread in power with your humble service.
