The Analytical Master, A Technician Subtype

“Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed.” — Proverbs 15:22

“I don’t want to mobilize the charismatic leader; I want the accountant.” (dragon slayers article) In a slanted, oversimplified way, this is the message of the Single Male Missionary project. Every man has a stereotypical image of who a missionary is, and often, it is something akin to the charismatic leader. See the Natural Networker. But the work of building God’s Kingdom requires other men. It needs accountants. It needs engineers and statisticians and economists. It needs Analytical Masters.

He is the white-collar Technician. Rather than applying his hands to God’s work, like the Blue-collar Tradesman or the Gifted Artisan, the Analytical Master advances the Kingdom with the outworkings of his mind. An acute problem-solver, he may not be ultra adept socially but quietly he makes the whole world run.

Teams around the world would kill to have the Analytical Master on their team. In secure countries, many teams run small startup businesses. And many do so clumsily. Someone with an analytic, organized mind would be transformative in their work. The Analytic Master can help with all sorts of challenges: how to move money internationally? how to gain access to hard to reach countries? how to leverage technology to reach people with the Gospel? Whether joining a team running an integrated business or becoming a skilled employee of an international company, his opportunities are endless. 

You are to love the Lord with all your heart, soul, and mind. (Matthew 22:37) Therefore submit your mind to the Lord’s work. Break through the challenges of this world and the Enemy. And build the Kingdom of God. You have a place in this work.
